Tern Away's first gig was on August 16th, 2025. At the time, the band was called "The Ternary", and consisted of just Josiah Wood and Aiden Andrews. They played 3 songs at Luppoleto Brewing Co's Open Mic Night. They opened with Creep by Stone Temple Pilots, played Nutshell by Alice in Chains, and rounded out the night by playing Black by Pearl Jam. The night included songs from the big 3 grunge bands, while making them their own. The limitations of only acoustic guitar and box drum made it challenging but gave it a humble feel, a feel that really reflects the beginning of Tern Away's career.
